(Driving lessons in Scarborough)
During your lesson, you will hear the following instructions, or something very similar. It would be helpful if you familiarise yourself with what these instructions mean, to avoid any confusion!
GAS PEDAL (Accelerator -
Set the gas gently push the gas pedal so that the engine noise makes a steady hum.
More gas push the gas pedal a little more.
Less gas release the gas pedal slightly.
Off gas remove all pressure from the gas pedal.
BRAKE PEDAL (For stopping!)
Cover brake place your right foot over the brake pedal, ready to use.
Gently brake apply gentle pressure to the brake pedal.
Firmly brake apply more pressure to the brake pedal.
Brake to a stop continue to increase the pressure on the brake pedal until
the car comes to a stop.
Off brake remove all pressure from the brake pedal.
CLUTCH PEDAL
Cover clutch place your left foot over the clutch pedal, ready to use.
Clutch down push the pedal fully to the floor.
Find the bite very slowly lift the pedal up until the engine noise drops slightly,
then keep your feet still.
Clutch up bring the pedal up smoothly.
Slowly clutch up bring the pedal up slowly and smoothly.
Off clutch remove all pressure from the pedal.
